Texas Department of Public Safety – Stassney

Background

Schulte Roofing executed a comprehensive roofing project for the new TXDOT campus headquarters in Austin, encompassing 120,000 square feet of PVC membrane roofing across multiple structures, including an office building, Central Utility Plant, and parking garage. The project demanded extraordinary precision, with stringent specifications requiring a 100% airtight building envelope.

Challenges

Our team navigated complex material transitions through extensive pre-installation consultations, implementing rigorous quality control measures to ensure absolute impermeability. Our superintendent conducted meticulous material inspections and implemented strategic testing protocols to eliminate potential air gaps or leakage points.

Solutions

The project’s exceptional execution was recognized with an “Outstanding Construction Award” from the AGC Austin Chapter, successfully passing the final air infiltration inspection. Beyond the roofing installation, we also completed a distinctive concrete roof paver system on pedestals, creating an innovative outdoor patio and gathering space.
